West Ham United appear to be eyeing Anfield for more than just one summer signing, with La Gazzetta Dello Sport reporting that Graham Potter is considering a double swoop. Having already shown interest in Tyler Morton, the London club are now among several sides monitoring Harvey Elliott.
Potter’s appointment has ushered in a new recruitment philosophy at West Ham, led alongside Head of Recruitment Kyle Macaulay. The club is targeting younger players to address an ageing squad and to inject technical quality across the midfield lines. Morton, 22, is seen as a tidy fit for that model.
Following limited minutes under Arne Slot, Morton is now a candidate for sale. The report recalls that he made “just five senior appearances for Liverpool – three in the EFL Cup and one each in the FA Cup and Champions League – before a shoulder injury in December required surgery and curtailed his season.”

A move to West Ham could represent a valuable fresh start for Morton, who still holds promise as a composed, ball-playing midfielder. The Hammers see this as a low-cost opportunity to rebuild with upside.
However, Elliott’s name will raise more eyebrows. The England Under-21 international starred at the recent U21 European Championships, scoring in every round and earning the Player of the Tournament award.
According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, “West Ham are among five Premier League clubs showing interest in Harvey Elliott.” Brighton are reportedly leading the race, with Newcastle United also in the mix.
The Seagulls are bracing for Matt O’Riley’s departure and view Elliott as a potential successor. It’s understood Liverpool would demand £40 million if a buy-back clause is included, rising to £50 million for a permanent sale.
While the Reds are in no hurry to lose Elliott, who has developed into a valuable squad player, their openness to negotiation suggests an awareness of his current value and limited starting opportunities.
West Ham’s interest in Elliott seems to be driven by both necessity and opportunity. With Mohammed Kudus linked with a switch to Tottenham and Lucas Paquetá facing a possible FA ban, Potter may require additional depth in attacking midfield areas.
Elliott’s creative flair, versatility and homegrown status make him an ideal target. At 21, he has room to grow and experience beyond his years. A source close to the club suggested, “He could be the heartbeat of this midfield for years, if we get it right.”

Arne Slot’s plans remain a key variable in both players’ futures. Morton appears surplus to requirements following the manager’s review of squad depth, while Elliott’s situation is more nuanced.
With Liverpool returning to the Champions League and domestic ambitions now heightened after winning the Premier League title under Slot’s first season, fringe players may be moved on to fund key additions or to ensure squad balance.
The idea of letting go of Harvey Elliott won’t sit comfortably with a section of the Liverpool fanbase, especially after his stellar U21 Euros performance. The lad has always been highly rated, but with limited starts, perhaps the writing is on the wall unless a major change in Slot’s plans happens.
If Liverpool can extract £50 million with no buy-back clause, it’s a tempting sum for a player who hasn’t nailed down a regular spot. Yet, many fans will argue Elliott’s technical skills, tactical awareness and attitude mean he should be part of the club’s future. His versatility also makes him a perfect squad option.
Tyler Morton, meanwhile, has talent but seems further down the pecking order. A move to West Ham makes perfect sense. He needs minutes, responsibility and a manager willing to build around him. That won’t happen at Anfield now.
There’s trust in Slot to make the right calls. But the fanbase will watch closely to see whether this is savvy business or letting two bright prospects walk away too soon. If Elliott becomes a star elsewhere, there’ll be questions.
