Westerlo linked with move for young Lille defender | OneFootball

HLN are reporting that Westerlo are eyeing up a move for Lille youngster Lucas Mbamba. The young Belgian left Club Brugge back in 2022 to join Lille and is the brother of Noah Mbamba, who is now on loan from Bayer Leverkusen at Dender. Both brothers came through the Club Brugge set up before departing for other European clubs. Lucas has yet to feature for the Lille first team but is a Belgian youth international.

After conceding five goals at the weekend, Westerlo could certainly do with more defensive reinforcements. Mbamba would fill a void left by Jordan Bos who joined Dutch side Feyenoord during the transfer window. The side like to sign young players, and at just 18 years of age, Mbamba fits the recruitment policy. It is not yet clear if they intend to sign the player permanently or on loan.

Westerlo are also closing in on another teenager in Newcastle United youngster Antonio Cordero, who will join on loan for the season.
