She has reclaimed the captain’s armband for Australia – and she’s back on the scoresheet for Chelsea.

She scored the Blues’ second in added time against London City Lionesses on Sunday, making that 101 goals for the club.

And she is already thinking about their next opponent – London rivals Arsenal, whom they face at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, 8th November.

“It’s always tough to go to the Emirates,” she told the club’s official website. “Arsenal are a good team and we have a lot of respect for them.

“Like I said, it’s a London derby, so we’ll always be up for it. The girls have had really good results against them in the last few games, so hopefully we can continue that.”

Sam Kerr: We’re where we want to be

And Kerr brushed off the suggestion that Chelsea are currently under-performing – pointing to their unbeaten record so far this season.

“It’s only the start of the season, but I think the girls are playing well; we’ve not dropped many points.

“The standards for Chelsea are so high that I get what people are saying, but at the same time, we’re still sitting where we want to in the league.

“In the Champions League, we’re in contention to be in that top four, where we want to be.”

Arsenal versus Chelsea – the Women’s Super League head to head

The recent meetings between the two sides have been close.

In their last encounter, Chelsea edged a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge in January 2025 thanks to a late penalty from Guro Reiten.

Their last match at the Emirates was a 2-1 win to the Blues, with Mayra Ramirez and Sandy Baltimore striking in the first 16 minutes before Caitlin Foord grabbed one back just before half-time.

Arsenal’s last win over Chelsea in the league came in December 2023, at the Emirates, when Beth Mead, Amanda Ilestedt and Alessia Russo (2) fired their team to a 4-1 win, with Johanna Rytting Kaneryd getting the visitors’ only goal.

In their 18 games against each other in the Women’s Super League so far, Chelsea have won 13, and Arsenal 10 – with Chelsea scoring 42 goals to Arsenal’s 41.
