Don Goodman has told Mateus Mane to stay at Wolves, even though Liverpool are among the clubs supposedly keen on the attacking midfielder.
Wolves are expected to be very busy in the transfer market in the coming weeks as they look to reshape Cesar Peixoto’s squad.
The Old Gold suffered an embarrassing relegation from the Premier League last season, and Rob Edwards paid the price for a poor end to the campaign, with Peixoto named as his successor last month.
As well as the change in the dugout, Wolves have sealed deals for Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez, with more new additions expected.

Yet, like all relegated clubs, dropping to the Championship has financial implications, and whilst Wanderers raised around £80m in January, many more departures are inevitable.
And, when it comes to raising the most money, many would see Mateus Mane as one of the prized assets at Molineux.
The 18-year-old was one of few positives for Wolves last season, with Edwards giving the attacking midfielder a prominent role in the XI, and he took the opportunity that came his way.
Given the impact Mane made in the top flight, it’s no surprise that several clubs have been credited with an interest in the player, including Liverpool.
But, as quoted by Empire of the Kop, Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman explained why he felt that staying with Wolves is the best thing for Mane at this stage of his career.
“Mateus Mané has only started 19 league games. He’s not ready for Liverpool just yet. He has undoubted talent and plays with a fearlessness that is great to watch, but he’s still very raw and even naive at times.
“For me, he would be best served staying at Wolves, playing week in, week out in a side you’d expect to be winning plenty of football matches. It’s a team he can star in and get loads of minutes under his belt, where you’d expect him to excel in the Championship and build on that vital first-team experience.
“If he went to Liverpool, I don’t think he’d get those minutes. Liverpool already have their own young talent, don’t they, in Rio Ngumoha? He’s actually even younger than Mané, so he would find himself down the pecking order to someone who is younger than him, I would think.
“I don’t think it would be a wise move right now. Of course, it’s a dream. Liverpool is an incredible club, one of the biggest in the world, and anyone would have their head turned if that option was on the table; but purely from a footballing perspective and for his own development, staying put is the best choice.”

It would obviously be tempting for Mane to leave Wolves this summer, especially if a club like Liverpool come in for him, but most would agree with Goodman’s assessment here.
At 18, Mane still has a lot to learn, and he will develop his talent by playing week in, week out.
There are numerous examples of top players who were in the EFL at his age, and many speak about how exposure to first-team football in such a competitive league was key to helping them in their career.
So, for Mane, the focus must be on Wolves, and establishing himself as one of the best players in the division, which he has the potential to do.
In an ideal world, Wanderers would win promotion, and Mane would then reach the Premier League with the club, but, if that doesn’t happen, then conversations about his future will take place in 12 months' time, and an exit may suit all parties at that point in time.
For now, though, Peixoto must find a way to get the best out of Mane, as he has enormous potential, and he could be key to their promotion hopes.
