FC Barcelona are not throwing in the towel in their bid to have manager Hansi Flick present on the touchline for this weekend’s El Clasico against Real Madrid.

The German tactician is currently facing a one-match ban after being sent off in the weekend La Liga clash against Girona for back-to-back yellow cards handed out by referee Gil Manzano over protests against some of his calls.

Barça had initially lodged an appeal with the Disciplinary Committee, but it was rejected and Flick’s one-match ban was upheld, meaning he stands to miss the Clasico on Sunday.

As such, the Catalans turned to the RFEF Appeals Committee and filed a fresh plea to get the ban overturned.

Verdict before 10 am on Friday

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, as per the new deadlines set by the RFEF for appeals submitted before 14:00 on Thursdays, the resolution will be issued before 10:00 on Friday.

Barcelona, for their part, have met the federation’s deadlines to submit their appeal against the suspension of Flick. The Catalans complied with the required timeline by submitting the appeal before 14:00 earlier today.

According to the information issued by the RFEF in August, the Appeals Committee must announce its decision before 10:00 am on Friday. However, the ruling could even be made public later today as well.

Time left for further appeals

Had Barcelona submitted the appeal after 14:00, they would have had to wait until 20:00 on Friday to receive the resolution.

By acting earlier, the Blaugrana have secured enough time to file an appeal with the final sports authority, the Administrative Court for Sport (TAD), if the Appeals Committee upholds the suspension.

For this, Barça have until 12:00 on Friday to submit the request, which must clearly state that it is urgent. This would require the disciplinary body to respond before Sunday, indicating whether or not it grants the interim measure.
