Lamine Yamal will not play again for FC Barcelona this season due to the hamstring injury he suffered against Celta Vigo on Wednesday night.

The club issued a medical statement indicating that he will undergo conservative treatment, which should allow him to take part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup for Spain.

Lamine’s estimated recovery time

What Barcelona’s medical report did not specify was the exact recovery period. Now, Mundo Deportivo suggests that this type of injury typically involves a lay-off ranging from one and a half to two months.

With these timelines, and considering that the La Liga season ends on 24 May, it is clear that the competition is already over for the Barcelona academy graduate.

However, the World Cup does not begin until 15 June for Spain, when they face Cape Verde.

Taking the more optimistic estimate, with the match scheduled in just under seven weeks, Lamine could be available for that game, as well as the following group fixtures against Saudi Arabia on 21 June and Uruguay on 27 June.

On the other hand, if the more conservative estimate of a two-month recovery is applied, he would miss the matches against Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia, and would only be ready in time for the final group-stage match against Uruguay.

In any case, everything will depend on Lamine’s recovery once the conservative treatment programme begins. It will be a process in which Barcelona and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) must work closely together without any issues.
