Stourbridge-born England midfielder Jude Bellingham has six goals at the 2026 World Cup, including two that sealed a 2-1 quarter-final win over Norway on Saturday 11 July. His father, Mark, is a prolific non-league striker and former West Midlands Police sergeant.

The 50-year-old grew up in Southend before moving to the West Midlands. ExpressAndStar.com notes that he scored more than 700 goals in non-league football, making him one of the most respected scorers outside the professional game. He turned out for Stourbridge, Sutton Coldfield Town and Wolverhampton Casuals among others.

His career began in the mid-80s and was close to ending in 2001 after a second torn cruciate ligament. He played on, later retiring from non-league by the late 2010s and taking part in veterans' tournaments.

Away from the pitch he served with West Midlands Police, rising to sergeant, before retiring to focus with wife Denise on their sons’ careers. When Jude left Birmingham City at 17 to join Borussia Dortmund in 2020, Denise moved with him while Mark stayed with Jobe. In 2023 Jude signed for Real Madrid and Jobe joined Sunderland, with Mark relocating to the north-east and Denise moving to Spain.

Jobe has said their parents are good people first, and that he learned how to behave and to work hard by watching them. They have played a vital role in their sons’ major moves. The England squad look all the richer for those efforts this year.
