Ipswich Town’s interest in Abdul Fatawu could define Leicester City’s summer, with the winger expected to leave after relegation to League One.

The Telegraph claims Ipswich have made contact over a possible move, and the Premier League newcomers are admirers. After the World Cup, Fatawu is due back at Seagrave, but his future is likely to lie elsewhere. Besiktas and West Ham United have already asked about him.

The 22-year-old began 2025/26 brightly with long-range strikes against Charlton Athletic, Birmingham City and Swansea. A halfway-line effort versus Ipswich in December ended a two-month drought, then he hit four in seven during a poor team run. Under Gary Rowett he scored once as City dropped to League One.

Ipswich already have four right-sided options, Kasey McAteer, Wes Burns, Sindre Walle Egeli and Chiedozie Ogbene, yet Fatawu offers a different profile.

Leicester would sell at the right price. A fee of £20m+ has been touted, far below last year’s potential valuation, and it would set a record for a League One departure. Such income could accelerate Russell Martin’s rebuild.

City are prioritising free agents and loans, though a permanent addition for the right price would be a statement. Any sale means a starting right winger must arrive, and interest in Stephy Mavididi could force a second. Leicester also want this resolved quickly, not dragged out all window.
