Why Real Madrid pulled the plug on Michael Olise pursuit | OneFootball

An explanation for the decision of those in the boardroom at La Liga giants Real Madrid to take a step back from their pursuit of Bayern Munich star Michael Olise has been provided.

Winger Olise was of course heavily linked with a potential Blancos switch earlier this summer. Amid a search for fresh blood in the attacking third, the Frenchman was earmarked as the ideal profile by Florentino Pérez and co.

At one point, Real Madrid were even tipped to launch a €200 million assault on Olise’s signature.

Recent days, however, have seen a new name replace that of the former Crystal Palace man as the central figure in the headlines surrounding the Spanish heavyweights.

Real, it is understood, are now going all out to bring RB Leipzig prodigy Yan Diomandé to the club, ready to pay over €100 million to beat out the stiff competition for the Ivorian.

And as alluded to above, this weekend, an insight into one of the key factors behind this shift in focus at the Bernabéu has come to the fore.

The info comes courtesy of market insider Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed:

‘Real Madrid informed Bayern days ago about intention not to break their relationship for Michael Olise. Florentino Pérez would love to sign Olise but only if/when Bayern open doors; NOT happening this summer so far.’
