Newcastle United will entertain Nottingham Forest at St. James’ Park this Sunday afternoon as they hope to earn all three points at home in the Premier League. The Magpies managed to secure a dominant 4-0 win over Union Saint-Gilloise recently, which should give them a ton of confidence ahead of this game.

Eddie Howe will set his men up in a 4-3-3 formation once again and is expected to keep changes to a minimum for this contest. Hence, we can expect to see Nick Woltemade lead the charge for the Tyneside club up top.

Defence

Nick Pope will function in between the sticks for Newcastle after he kept a clean sheet in his last outing. Malick Thiaw will resume his partnership with Sven Botman at the centre of the Newcastle defence as they hope to keep the opposition at bay during the game.

Kieran Trippier will try to catch the eye as the right-back, while Dan Burn looks to impress on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to go forward and express themselves inside the opponent’s half.

Lewis Hall and Fabian Schar will be available for selection on the bench as they provide cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield

Howe will stick with the same midfield three of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Joelinton. All three of them had a good game in midweek and would hope to put in a similar display for Newcastle at the centre of the park.

Lewis Miley and Joe Willock will have to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Anthony Elanga will look to prove his worth on the right flank, while Anthony Gordon hopes to make a difference as the left-sided winger

Nick Woltemade will spearhead Howe’s attack up top. He managed to score in midweek, which should keep him in good spirits going into this clash against Nottingham this weekend.

William Osula, Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy will be named on the bench as they wait for their chance to influence the game in the final quarter if the Magpies are in need of a goal by then.
