Kylian Mbappé set two France scoring records with a brace in the 3-1 win over Senegal, the opener of their 2026 World Cup campaign on Tuesday.
At MetLife Stadium, he struck on 66 minutes with a cross-shot after a fine Michael Olise pass, then added a second in the 90+6 with a powerful 25‑metre drive. L'Équipe reported the feat on Tuesday.
The Real Madrid forward now has 58 goals for France, one more than Olivier Giroud.
He also moved top of the French World Cup scoring list with 14, passing Just Fontaine on 13. Thierry Henry is third with five.
His 14 puts him level with Gerd Müller. He is one behind Ronaldo on 15 and two shy of Miroslav Klose and Lionel Messi, who share the record on 16.
Could he become the World Cup’s all-time leading scorer at this tournament?
