Wolves are reportedly looking to bring back the midfielder from Birmingham City in January
Wolverhampton Wanderers could look to terminate Tommy Doyle’s loan deal at Birmingham City.
Blues arrived back in the Championship after achieving promotion from League One in record-breaking fashion and were quick to flex their muscles in the transfer market.
The Second City side have great ambitions under Tom Wagner’s ownership and showcased that with a number of impressive signings, bringing players such as Kyogo Furuhashi, Demarai Gray and Patrick Roberts to St. Andrew’s.
Football League World exclusively revealed during the summer that Birmingham were eyeing up a loan deal for Wolves’ Tommy Doyle, which is a move that eventually materialised with an option-to-buy.
Given that the 24-year-old had made 50 Premier League appearances across the previous two campaigns, this was seen as a real coup for Blues and a signing that could have a huge impact on their season.
However, Doyle’s time with the club could soon be coming to a premature end.

After struggling for consistency at the start of his Birmingham career, Doyle hit a strong patch of form before the November international break and started the five matches leading up to that point.
His upturn in performances has coincided with Blues improving their results as a team, but Chris Davies may be forced to operate without the midfielder soon.
According to Football Insider, Wolves’ new manager, Rob Edwards, could terminate Doyle’s Birmingham loan deal in January.
Edwards is believed to be a big admirer of the Manchester City academy product and a return to Molineux in the upcoming transfer window is a realistic prospect.
With the Black Country outfit bottom of the Premier League and facing an uphill battle to survive, any extra additions to the squad with top-flight experience would be welcomed, which is why Doyle’s future at St. Andrew’s is in doubt.

Given that Wolves hold the cards in this situation, there is nothing Birmingham can do but wait and see what happens.
Doyle’s prominence in Blues’ squad has vastly grown to the point where he has become a regular starter under Davies, which will inflict more pain on the Second City side if he is recalled.
If Birmingham have any hope of claiming a place in the top six, it will be down to operators such as Doyle using their top-flight quality to full effect.
