Jean-Ricner Bellegarde faces a number of weeks out after a hamstring injury suffered in training.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, director of performance Phil Hayward said an MRI revealed a relatively high-grade issue in the midfielder’s left hamstring, and that while the timeline is shorter than Rafiki’s, it will be a few weeks before he is back on the grass.

Bellegarde returned only last week after representing Haiti at the World Cup. His workload was built up slowly following a three-week break that included a week of conditioning while on holiday, but he felt the problem during one action in a weekend session.

He sustained a similar hamstring problem on the opposite side last December. Because this is not the previously injured area, recovery can be quicker, although it remains a setback.

Staff noted the workload is difficult to manage after a long season and World Cup commitments. With the season two weeks away, they will try to manage risk while working to get him back as quickly as possible.

Fer Lopez missed the Maidenhead and Real Sociedad friendlies with a minor groin issue, but he has trained this week and will be available for the final two friendlies this summer. Adam Armstrong should continue to be available after a calf knock.
