Wolves owner Fosun reports £2 billion revenue drop and major non-cash loss

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Fosun, owner of Wolverhampton Wanderers, posted revenue of nearly £19 billion for 2025, down 9.7 per cent year on year. That equates to a fall of around £2 billion, with industrial operating profit about £438 million compared with £555 million in 2024.
The group also recorded a book loss of around £2.5 billion, an accounting adjustment largely tied to lower real estate values, 55 per cent, and non-core assets, 45 per cent, described as non-cash and not affecting operations or cash flow. The loss was labelled unprecedented, with an apology to shareholders and an emphasis on steady growth in core businesses such as pharmaceuticals and insurance.
Fosun Pharma, Yuyuan, Fosun Insurance Portugal and Fosun Tourism Group generated about £14 billion, 74 per cent of total revenue. Overseas revenue reached roughly £10.4 billion, 54.7 per cent of the total, up 5.4 per cent year on year. The group is continuing to streamline operations and focus on core businesses.
Management outlined plans to concentrate resources on higher growth sectors as valuations of some older investments have shifted under current market conditions. The company aims to be leaner and more sustainable, with innovation and globalisation cited as key drivers.
The group maintains ample cash reserves, a solid net asset base and positive operating cash flow. Medium term, it is targeting a gradual recovery of annual profits to around £1.09 billion, prioritising durable growth over short-term gains.
Wolves’ latest accounts show a £15.3 million loss in 2024/25. The Premier League side sit bottom, with relegation to the Championship a near certainty, and have posted losses in each of the last four seasons after a £18.4 million profit in 2020/21. Jeff Shi has been replaced as executive chairman by interim Nathan Shi amid fan unrest over investment, while Fosun bought the club for £30 million in 2016.
