Wolverhampton have been relegated to the second tier and are reshaping the squad. The Athletic reports that most of the group has been made available, including João Gomes.
Wolves intend to retain only Yerson Mosquera, Santiago Bueno, Krejci, Toti Gomes, Hugo Bueno, Pedro Lima, Rodrigo Gomes, Ricner Bellegarde and Matheus Mané, placing the remaining players on the market.
The plan is to sell higher earners to raise funds for a rebuild in the second tier, while staying within financial fair play rules given existing contracts.
Despite a poor campaign, João Gomes has been among the Premier League’s leading defensive performers, averaging three tackles per match, which has heightened interest.
Manchester United, Tottenham, Atlético de Madrid and Napoli are interested in the former Flamengo midfielder.
Flamengo continue their season on Sunday 26, facing Atlético-MG at Arena MRV at 20:30 Brasília time in the 13th round of the Brasileirão.
