Wolves are preparing a summer overhaul of their goalkeeping ranks after relegation to the Championship, with departures expected and a new number one targeted.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, change among the stoppers is likely as Rob Edwards reshapes the squad and the hierarchy commit to several additions.
Jose Sa, who has made 170 appearances, is expected to be sold. He has one year left plus a 12-month option, and Nottingham Forest had a £1.5million bid rejected in January. He appeared to bid farewell after the final day draw at Burnley, and Edwards said it could have been his last game.
Sam Johnstone is also likely to leave despite two years remaining on his deal with an option to 2029. In and out of the side with 27 appearances, he missed the final eight matches with a shoulder issue and, as a high earner, is expected to depart.
Third-choice Dan Bentley is the most likely to stay. The 32-year-old has 260 Championship appearances with Bristol City and Brentford, is valued as a dressing-room leader, and has one year left plus an option.
Regardless of who remains, Wolves are expected to recruit a new number one. Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Millwall, has been monitored, though any move is uncertain amid a reported £8million valuation.
