Wolverhampton Wanderers are weighing a summer move for former Sunderland captain Dan Neil following their relegation to the Championship, according to Football League World.
The 24-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and will leave on a free, Sunderland have confirmed.
An academy graduate at the Stadium of Light, Neil made 201 appearances and was central to the club's rise from League One, featuring in two promotion-winning campaigns to reach the Premier League.
After Sunderland's top-flight return, his minutes were limited under Régis Le Bris and he made only three Premier League appearances before joining Ipswich Town on loan in January. He has since played regularly, making 13 outings as Ipswich push for promotion back to the top tier.
Wolves are planning for next season and could overhaul their midfield. Neil is viewed as a cost-effective option with proven experience at that level, while it remains to be seen whether Ipswich seek a permanent deal as interest grows.
