FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealed he had received assurances about the Iranian national team's participation from Donald Trump during a meeting. Trump, to discuss the progress of preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup and the growing excitement as we approach kick-off, now just 93 days away. We also discussed the current situation in Iran and the qualification of the Iranian national team for the FIFA World Cup 2026," he said.

He added: "During our discussions, President Trump reaffirmed that the Iranian team is, of course, welcome to participate in the tournament in the United States". Finally, Gianni Infantino emphasized the role of football in a tense international context, despite his earlier remarks.
