‘Worst player I’ve seen play for us’ – Barcelona fans slate one star during Real Sociedad clash | OneFootball

Fans of La Liga giants Barcelona have on Sunday evening made clear their frustrations with the level of one member of the club’s backline.

The player in question? Gerard Martín.

Barcelona are of course currently locked in action on the domestic front.

With sights on leapfrogging arch rivals Real Madrid into top spot in the La Liga table, the Blaugrana have welcomed Real Sociedad to Catalunya’s capital.

Early in the exchanges at Montjuïc, however, Hansi Flick’s troops found themselves facing up to a 1-0 deficit.

This came after Álvaro Odriozola broke free to slot home at the back post.

And quickly shouldering the vast majority of the blame for Barca’s poor start was the aforementioned Gerard Martín.

With Alejandro Balde absent through injury once more on Sunday, Martín was afforded his latest start at left-back.

And despite what has been a largely impressive run of form on the part of the Spaniard of late, Martín has been singled out for criticism in ruthless fashion by the Blaugrana faithful, accused by many of simply not being of the standard required for a club of Barca’s stature.
