Wrexham host Preston North End in the Championship at Cae Ras on 29 December 2025, with the visitors protecting a promotion play-off place and the hosts looking to add to five home wins.

These sides drew 1-1 at Deepdale earlier in December, while Wrexham also won 3-2 there in the EFL Cup in August. Preston North End are fifth on 37 points; Wrexham sit 13th with 31.

Wrexham's recent run reads win, two draws and two defeats, including a 5-3 home victory over Sheffield United. Preston are unbeaten in five, with four draws and a win in that sequence, most recently a goalless draw at Stoke.

Availability could shape selections. Wrexham are without James McClean (suspended) and have injuries to Danny Ward, Eliott Lee, Ryan Hardie, Lewis O'Brien, Lewis Brunt and Aaron James. Preston list multiple absentees, including Robbie Brady, Liam Lindsay, Andrija Vukcevic, Lewis Gibson, Stefan Teitur Thordarson, Lewis Norman Dobbin, Alfie Devine and Theo Carroll.

On the pitch, Wrexham have scored 32 league goals and can threaten in the air, with eight headed goals and a high crossing volume. Kieffer Moore is joint third in the league scoring chart with 10. Preston have conceded 23, kept six clean sheets and may look to keep things tight while picking their moments in transition.

A home win would move Wrexham to 34 points and could push them towards the top half. Victory for Preston would take them to 40 points and strengthen their grip on the promotion play-off positions.
