Wrexham AFC has pledged to ban any supporter found responsible for "sexist and misogynistic" online comments, which emerged after their women's team secured the Adran Premier title for the first time.

A 4-1 victory over Cardiff at the SToK Cae Ras on Sunday saw Wrexham crowned champions.

Yet, a series of abusive posts were shared online after the game, prompting a swift club response.

A statement on their official website affirmed: "We are aware of sexist and misogynistic comments shared online following the match. Let us be clear: such views have no place in football, in our club, or in society."

“They do not represent who we are, what we stand for, or the overwhelming support behind this team.

“We will not allow this behaviour to overshadow a great moment for women’s football in Wales. Our focus remains firmly on celebrating our players and continuing to grow the game.”

Wrexham, who also expressed their disappointment in “some organisations who choose to paint the domestic game here in Wales in a negative light”, reiterated their stance against discrimination.

The statement continued: “We stand unequivocally with our players and staff. Their professionalism, character and success deserve to be celebrated.

“As a club, we will always support and protect them, and we will continue to promote an environment that is inclusive, welcoming and respectful for all.

“Wrexham AFC will not tolerate discrimination of any kind. Those who hold or express such views are not part of our community. If supporters are identified, then we will ban individuals from all Wrexham AFC sites.”

The men’s team are also fighting for further success to continue their remarkable rise under co-owners and Hollywood actors Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds.
