According to a report from Real Madrid Confidencial, Xabi Alonso is determined to revolutionise the culture at the club with a fresh and demanding work methodology.

The Spaniard has wasted no time in stamping his authority at the club, as he has introduced several radical changes designed to push his players to new levels of physical and tactical performance.

One of the first noticeable shifts has been the earlier arrival times required from the squad. Players now have to report much earlier than before in order to complete medical and physical assessments ahead of training.

Changes are in order

The idea is to have every player in peak condition before they even set foot on the pitch.

Training sessions have also taken on a new intensity. They are longer, sharper, and more detailed, echoing the methods that helped Alonso transform Bayer Leverkusen into Bundesliga champions.

Technology plays a big role too. Just like in Germany, drones and video analysis are being used to break down every tactical movement, giving players a clear understanding of what Alonso expects from them in different situations.

Tactical discipline and opportunity for youth

Another key change is the timing of team announcements. Real Madrid TV previously revealed starting lineups two hours before matches, but Alonso has tightened this to just 75 minutes.

This subtle but significant adjustment prevents rivals from preparing as easily, ensuring that his tactical plans retain an element of surprise.

Rotation has also become an important part of Alonso’s approach. By keeping his stars fresh and giving chances to youngsters, he hopes to maintain high performance levels across a long and demanding season.

Alonso’s vision is to combine physical discipline, tactical precision, and trust in youth to guide Real Madrid back to the very top of European football.

Competing for every possible title, the new methodology could mark the beginning of another golden era at the Santiago Bernabeu.
