Moroccan midfielder Zakaria Labyad attended Corinthians’ Dérbi with Palmeiras at Neo Química Arena on Sunday night, in the seventh round of the Campeonato Paulista. The 32-year-old is expected to be announced by the club in the coming days.

According to Meu Timao, he arrived in São Paulo in the early evening and was seen in a hospitality box reserved for Memphis Depay, a friend and former PSV Eindhoven team-mate.

Now in Brazil, Labyad will undergo medical tests in the next few days, then await administrative clearance before any official confirmation. He has been a free agent since the end of 2025 after leaving Dalian Yingbo in China, and has not played since 22 November last year.

His career includes spells with Sporting in Portugal, Fulham in England, Utrecht and Ajax in the Netherlands, and Yunnan Yukun in China. His standout season came for Utrecht in 2017/18, when he scored 18 goals and provided nine assists in 39 matches.

Corinthians have already added four signings this window, which runs until March, Gabriel Paulista, Pedro Milans, Matheus Pereira and Kaio César. The club also have a deal lined up with goalkeeper João Ricardo, while Argentine Fabrizio Angileri is a free agent after his 2025 contract expiry and in advanced talks over a return.
