Zinédine Zidane at the helm of Les Bleus? The FFF remains cautious
Will Zinédine Zidane become the next head coach of the French national team? Nothing is set in stone yet, according to Philippe Diallo, president of the French Football Federation.
Although many see him as Didier Deschamps' natural successor, Diallo, in an interview with L'Équipe, remains cautious:
I have great respect for Zidane and everything he has accomplished for French football, both as a player and as a manager. But everything will happen in due time. For now, our focus is on preparing for the World Cup.
Deschamps has announced that he will step down after the 2026 World Cup, and the announcement of the next coach is expected before the tournament kicks off in June. Zidane, 53, has left his mark on football history, winning three Champions League titles and two Spanish championships with Real Madrid. With the French national team, he lifted the 1998 World Cup, the Euro 2000 trophy, and finished as a World Cup runner-up in 2006.
