A £100m midfielder is the solution to all of Liverpool's problems at the moment.
After the summer Richard Hughes delivered at Anfield, many are scratching their heads as to why those transfers have not quite hit the ground running just yet.
The truth is, mass change at any club is always going to take time to come together. Players need time to settle and adjust. They need to understand the system and acclimatise to a new team and for a lot of them, even a new league.

The fact that Liverpool are in the position that they are is impressive. They won seven of their first nine matches. Sure, some of those results were fortunate.
But on the whole they have been the better team in most of their matches, except for the last two against Crystal Palace and Galatasaray.
Now there is one thing that is crucially missing from this Liverpool team at the moment. Slot has always been very adamant and has made it clear that he wants all his players to win their duels.
He had emphasised this at the beginning of his career at Anfield.
In the last two matches, Liverpool lost 60% of their duels against Galatasaray and over 50% against Crystal Palace. That's a really poor outcome and something that has to be addressed.
We said Hughes delivered a perfect summer. However, there is one final piece of the jigsaw missing for the Reds.
They need a duel winner. They have needed that ever since they tried to sign Moises Caicedo back in 2023.
Liverpool tried subsequently to bring in Martin Zubimendi but he opted to join Arsenal. So, now they have to look at alternative options ahead of the January or summer window.
And who is the best fitting player for this role?
Carlos Baleba who as per a recent report in Sky Sports Brighton value at £100m. This isn't necessarily a surprise. Holding midfielders of Baleba's ilk are at a premium these days - especially if they are from Brighton.
However, the Cameroonian international is everything Liverpool need right now. He's capable of covering a lot of ground in midfield, wins a lot of his duels and destroys opposition counter-attacks.
At the same time, he is a progressive midfielder. He can make forward runs and clever passes from deep in order to instigate attacks.
Baleba is the answer and the solution to all of Slot's problems, which is why we would not be surprised if he became the club's next £100m signing.
