Jack Rudoni could leave Coventry City this month, and two others may decide to follow him out the exit door
Coventry City opened their Championship campaign with a 0-0 draw at home to Hull City, with Southampton target Jack Rudoni playing the full ninety minutes amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future in the West Midlands.
Frank Lampard has entered his first full season in charge at the CBS Arena after taking over the reins from Mark Robins in November last year, with the Sky Blues in 17th place and just two points above the relegation zone.
The former Chelsea and England midfielder found himself with the daunting task of replacing Robins, who had spent the last seven years with the club, taking them from League Two to a penalty shootout away from the Premier League.
However, Lampard has since endeared himself to the Coventry faithful, guiding the Sky Blues to a fifth-place finish last season, with star attacking midfielder Rudoni playing a pivotal role in that success.
Rudoni, 24, scored nine goals and added 12 assists in 43 Championship appearances last season, finishing the campaign with 21 goal contributions, eight more than the next best Haji Wright.
His performances have reportedly alerted the interest of Southampton, with the Saints reportedly in talks to sign the midfielder, as per Mike McGrath via X. As revealed exclusively by Football League World, meanwhile, Coventry are holding out for a £15 million fee in order to part ways with the talented playmaker.
With Rudoni's exit looking like a real possibility, FLW has taken a look at two other players who could follow him through the exit door at the CBS Arena.
With Coventry having already completed a deal to sign Kaine Kesler-Hayden from Aston Villa for £3.5 million this summer, this has opened up the exit door for Dutch wing-back Van Ewijk.
German outlet Kicker has reported that Van Ewijk is expected to join Bundesliga side VFL Wolfsburg and link up with former manager at Heerenveen, Paul Simonis.
The Dutchman initially joined Coventry from Heerenveen two years ago for £3.5 million, with the Sky Blues holding out to at least double their profit on the 24-year-old.
Van Ewijk started and played the full match in Coventry's opening day draw with Hull and even hit the post. However, he wasn't involved in the club's 1-0 victory over Luton on Tuesday, remaining an unused substitute.
With Kesler-Hayden waiting in the wings and Wolfsburg keen to strengthen their right-back spot, we wouldn't be surprised to see Van Ewijk leave before the window shuts.
Belgian striker Norman Bassette joined Coventry last summer from French second tier side Caen, but it's safe to say that the move hasn't gone to plan so far.
He has found himself behind Brandon Thomas-Asante, Haji Wright and Ellis Simms in the Coventry pecking order, making meaningful minutes difficult to come by.
He scored just two goals in 29 appearances across all competitions last season, with only 13 of those being starts.
The 20-year-old has yet to feature for Coventry this season, not even making the bench for either games against Hull or Luton.
Still under contract at the CBS Arena until 2028, Bassette's best form of action may be to find a loan move away from the club where he can obtain consistent game time and prove his worth to Lampard.
Reports from Sacha Tavolieri via X stated that Dutch side FC Utrecht were in talks to sign the Belgian on-loan with an option to buy, whilst Standard Liege kept tabs on the matter, though news on this has since gone quiet.
