The curtain has risen on the 2026 World Cup draw ceremony. Donald Trump, the American president, kicked things off with his first reaction to the French press.
Present in Washington DC for the 2026 World Cup draw, Donald Trump expressed his excitement with less than 200 days to go before the tournament. The next edition of football's premier competition will, of course, take place on American soil. Asked about the USA's chances in this competition, the American president admitted that the US had a slim chance.
"It's a great honor to be here. Gianni (Infantino) has done a fantastic job. Ticket sales are breaking records—it's amazing. Do the United States have a chance to win the World Cup? I think yes, they have a small chance. It's a tough competition, but we have a shot. Which country will I support? You know, I'm used to supporting many countries. But this time, I'll be mostly behind the United States," Trump told RMC Sport.
