Trabzonspor are already making plans to sign Andre Onana permanently after his temporary spell comes to an end next June.

Indeed, the on-loan Manchester United man has impressed since making the switch to Turkey last month, with his side sitting second-placed in the Super Lig heading into the international break.

When the Red Devils negotiated the deal with Trabzonspor in September, there was no buy option or obligation included in the terms, meaning Onana is poised to return to Old Trafford at the end of the campaign, as things stand.

However, Trabzonspor are now planning to ‘open discussions’ with United in hopes of putting a strategy in place to add him to their ranks long-term as soon as the summer rolls around, as per Rahman Osman. Personal terms are ‘not expected to be an issue’.

You can imagine United will be keen to comply to get the Cameroonian off their books as swiftly as possible, although it remains to be seen what kind of fee they will demand, given he is contracted to the club until 2028.

Onana’s lacklustre United tenure coming to permanent end

Back in 2023, United forked out £47.2 million to sign Onana from Inter Milan after Erik ten Hag chose him to succeed long-serving No.1 David de Gea, who was released at the end of his deal.

Assuming he doesn’t feature for the team again, the 29-year-old’s last appearance came in the form of a calamitous showing away to Grimsby Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup, in which he conceded two early goals before letting in 12 penalties in the shootout.

In the 102 matches he played across all competitions for United, Onana conceded a whopping 150 goals and kept only 24 clean sheets.
