AC Milan and Inter Milan are gearing up for a transfer duel over goalkeeper Elia Caprile, according to Calciomercato.
The 24-year-old is attracting significant attention due to his impressive performances with Cagliari.
His agility, sharp reflexes and commanding presence in goal have marked him as one of Serie A’s most promising goalkeepers.
He recently earned a maiden call-up to the Italian national team, further highlighting his growing reputation.
Cagliari signed Caprile from Napoli for around €8 million last summer, but his current form and potential have driven his market value close to €25m.
Milan are preparing for life without Mike Maignan, whose contract expires next year, although he could still opt to sign an extension.
Inter need a long-term successor for Yann Sommer, who is set to leave on a free transfer in 2026.
Both clubs have identified Caprile as a key target, given he is young enough to develop further and has the potential to become a reliable first-choice goalkeeper.
Cagliari will be hoping that the rivalry between the two Milan clubs pushes Caprile’s price even higher.
Negotiations are anticipated to kick into full swing at the end of the current campaign, but AC and Inter are already laying some groundwork.
In the meantime, the clubs will be focused on securing maximum points from Sunday’s Milan derby at the San Siro.
