Real Madrid made it as far as the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup during the summer, in their first assignment under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Gonzalo Garcia was the breakout star of the tournament for Los Blancos, scoring four goals and finishing as the top scorer.

As such, a summer exit for the 21-year-old centre-forward was ruled out and he stayed put at Real Madrid, with the idea being that he would have a prominent role in the new season.

However, seven matches into the 2025/26 campaign, Garcia has barely featured, leading to speculations about his future surface again.

AC Milan monitoring Gonzalo Garcia

According to TuttoMercatoWeb in Italy, AC Milan are closely tracking the situation of Gonzalo Garcia heading into the January transfer window.

The Rossoneri’s top priority for the winter is a new central defender, but they are not ruling out a move for a striker as well, although much would depend on the situation of Santiago Gimenez.

Irrespective of whether they make a move or not, Milan are keeping an eye on Gonzalo’s situation at Real Madrid and would be willing to explore a future loan move with an option to buy.

However, it is unlikely that the Merengues would be willing to accept any such proposals for the young striker, despite his limited role so far.

So far in the new season, Gonzalo Garcia has featured only four times, totalling up to 90 minutes of action, without a goal or an assist. His only start came last week against RCD Espanyol, when he played for an hour.

While minutes have been limited for the 21-year-old thus far, he remains highly valued at Real Madrid, and, as such, an exit in the winter seems unlikely.
