After heavy transfer rumours, Barcelona star set for ‘plenty of playing time’ this season | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is expected to be afforded an increasingly prominent role by manager Hansi Flick this season.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Andreas Christensen as the player in question.

Stopper Christensen was for his part of course widely expected to depart Catalunya’s capital over the summer.

This came after Deco made clear that there was an overbooking at the heart of Hansi Flick’s defence.

In the end, however, it was Iñigo Martínez who made the call to depart, meaning Christensen was rather abruptly taken off the market.

And according to AS, these developments look set to culminate in an ‘important’ role for the former Chelsea man this coming season.

Boasting the full backing of boss Flick, and with 90 minutes already under his belt against Rayo Vallecano last weekend:

‘It looks like he’ll get plenty of playing time because he has the confidence of the coaching staff, who also want to foster competitiveness and rotate more players than last season.’
