Lazio defender Mario Gila is a man in demand, as yet another Serie A giant has reportedly joined Inter Milan and Real Madrid in the race for his services.
The 24-year-old is a Barcelona native who rose through the ranks of Real Madrid before joining Lazio in the summer of 2022. While he wasn’t always a regular starter in his first two campaigns in the Italian capital, he has now become the first name on Marco Baroni’s pecking order, and his impressive outings at the back are earning him the interest of some of the biggest clubs in the continent.
The Spaniard has been constantly linked with a return to Los Merengues who have a 50% sell-on fee in case of a future transfer, which would translate into a discount if the Champions League winners were to buy him themselves. Moreover, a recent report claimed Inter are also interested in the Biancocelesti star.
According to Milanlive.it (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Milan have also identified Gila as a potential replacement for Fikayo Tomori and Malick Thiaw who are being linked with Premier League moves.
The defender’s contract with the Biancocelesti is valid until June 2027, but perhaps it’s time for Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani to armor him with a new and improved long-term contract to maintain a strong leverage over the defender’s future.
