Fiorentina are openly searching for a replacement for Edoardo Bove and have joined Lazio and Napoli in the race to acquire Jacopo Fazzini from Empoli. The relationship between the two Tuscan sides is excellent, but the midfielder is in demand, Alfredo Pedullà informs.
The Viola have also tested the waters for Michael Folorunsho. Instead, the Biancocelesti might go for a twofer at the position. They have recently lost Matias Vecino to a severe thigh problem. Plus, Gianluca Castrovilli could be let go since he hasn’t featured much. They are dueling with Monza for Cesare Casadei, but a straight loan is unlikely.
Fiorentina, Lazio, and Napoli would have to spend €14/15M to snap up Fazzini. It wouldn’t be the first time Empoli lose a talent in January. They sold Tommaso Baldanzi to Roma midseason last year. He has made just eight appearances because of two separate muscular injuries. He just returned from a six-week absence.
The 21-year-old has 60 Serie A appearances under his belt. He has scored once and assisted twice. He has accumulated five caps with the Azzurrini.
The Azzurri could use a Scott McTominay deputy to be safe, but they could just keep Folorunsho if they want to. The other two teams have a much bigger need. He’s dynamic and can still be molded, but he’s not too similar to Bove, who’s grittier and pacier and less technical. They need a specific player to recapture the right balance. Empoli could okay his exit with a good offer as they have found decent in-house solutions to substitute for him already.
