Ajax agree loan for Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare with option to buy | OneFootball

Tolu Arokodare is nearing a Wolves exit after Ajax agreed a season-long loan that includes an option to buy for about £17 million.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Ajax will cover the 25-year-old’s wages for 2026/27 and have paid a £1 million loan fee. Wolves have also secured bonuses tied to Ajax’s European qualification. Arokodare cost nearly £24 million last summer.

Club and player pushed for a move all summer, with Arokodare initially left out of the pre-season camp in Portugal.

He was flown out for one session to cover Adam Armstrong’s calf issue, but did not play the behind-closed-doors friendly against Estoril, watching from the stands.

After Wolves returned to Compton, a training session was cancelled when he refused to leave the first-team group, and extra security was brought in to prevent a repeat.

He was not banned from the training ground, but he did not feature against Maidenhead or Real Sociedad.

Arokodare later posted on social media, saying some coverage was inaccurate, without specifying which details, and he did not deny the incident.

Fiorentina and Trabzonspor both saw offers rejected. Trabzonspor later had a bid accepted, which he turned down as he preferred Italy, and he has now accepted a switch to the Netherlands after Ajax struck terms with Wolves.
