Tolu Arokodare is closing in on a Wolves exit after Ajax agreed a season-long loan that includes an option to buy.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the option is around 37 million, Ajax will cover his full 2026/27 wages and have paid a 31 million loan fee. Further bonuses are tied to Ajax’s European qualification, and the 25-year-old joined Wolves for nearly 24 million last summer.

The club and player have worked on his departure throughout the summer, and he was initially left out of the pre-season camp in Portugal. He was later flown out for one session to cover Adam Armstrong’s calf injury, but did not play in the behind closed doors friendly with Estoril.

After Wolves returned to Compton, a session was cancelled when he refused to leave the first-team group, with extra security drafted in to prevent a repeat. He was not banned from the training ground, but did not feature in the friendlies against Maidenhead or Real Sociedad.

Arokodare then used social media to criticise media reports as inaccurate, without specifying which details or denying the incident. Fiorentina and Trabzonspor had bids rejected, before Trabzonspor later saw an offer accepted that the player declined as he preferred Italy. He has since opted for the Netherlands.
