According to Voetbal International, Ajax are showing concrete interest in Juventus defender Daniele Rugani as they aim to strengthen at the back. The Dutch giants are trying to convince the 29-year-old to move to the Johan Cruyff Arena, but several factors could make this a difficult deal for Ajax to complete.

Talks between Ajax and Daniele Rugani have taken place over recent weeks and the seven-time Italian international is said to be keen on a move to the Dutch capital. The centre-back has a strong relationship with new Ajax manager Francesco Fariolo, which could be crucial in this move. However, it still looks complicated as Rugani remains in contract at Juventus until 2026. The Italian giants are willing to let the defender leave this summer but a fee would be required to bring him to Amsterdam.

Daniele Rugani has featured 148 times for Juve over fifteen years, making 17 appearances in the Champions League. The player fits the requirements to play for Ajax next season as a defensive reshuffle is desperately needed off the back of a disappointing campaign for the club. Talks will continue between Ajax and Rugani over the coming weeks, although the club have alternative options if they fail to sign the Italian.
