Al-Ittihad have set sights on Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga as a marquee replacement for N'Golo Kante. They are preparing a huge bid and the chance to play centrally each week to tempt him.
According to Goal.com, the Jeddah club have made the France international their top target after Kante joined Fenerbahce in Türkiye. The Saudi side hope to exploit his wish for regular starts.
Since arriving from Rennes in 2021, Camavinga has won every club trophy on offer, including the Champions League and La Liga. Yet he has been rotated under Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso and, since January, Alvaro Arbeloa. He has started just nine La Liga games this season and three in the Champions League.
His versatility has counted against him, with frequent outings at left-back rather than midfield. Al-Ittihad believe a starring role in his favoured position, and a statement signing to match Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr, could appeal.
They are ready to table a sizeable fee, with the player valued at at least €60 million. Wages on offer would dwarf his current salary, mirroring the approach that took Gabri Veiga to Al-Ahli in 2023.
Madrid are protected by a deal to 2029 and a €one billion release clause. Even so, the club have previously avoided keeping unhappy players if the right bid arrives.
Losing Camavinga would jar with their long-term midfield succession after Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. For now he remains a Madrid player, but a persistent Al-Ittihad could make the summer a test of resolve.
