Liverpool’s big money summer signing is in contention to make his debut against Atletico Madrid
Alexander Isak is in line to make his Liverpool debut against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
Isak, who joined Liverpool for a British record £125million transfer fee on Deadline Day at the beginning of the month, did not make the trip to Burnley at the weekend as he was deemed not ready by Arne Slot.
This was as a result of the Sweden international missing all of pre-season and the start of the new campaign as he tried to force an exit from Newcastle, where he training away from the first-team squad.
However, Isak could make his Liverpool bow when Atletico visit Anfield as Slot has confirmed the striker will be in the squad for the Champions League tie.
Speaking to reporters, Slot said: “Definitely a chance because he's in the squad and the chance to play, I would usually say 99.9% sure but I can say 100% sure he will not play 90 minutes but he's part of the squad.
"It's already a Champions League game to look forward to but if people look forward to his playing time that could mean that could happen tomorrow as well."
Isak has not started a fixture for club or country since the end of last season and Slot has revealed the Swede will not feature for 90 minutes against the La Liga outfit.
"The only thing we're sure of is he will not play 90."

In a huge boost for the Reds, Alexis Mac Allister also took part in training ahead of their Champions League clash.
There was initial concern regarding Mac Allister’s potential availability for Wednesday night’s high-profile league phase opener after he was substituted at half-time of Sunday’s last-gasp Premier League win over Burnley.
That said, Curtis Jones will remain sidelined with an unspecified knock suffered during the win over Arsenal before the international break. The midfielder could return for Saturday’s Merseyside derby at home to Everton, Slot has confirmed.
