Liverpool appear to have the benefit of almost complete player availability for their Champions League opener against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.
The Reds were put through the paces at the AXA Training Centre earlier today as they gear up for the visit of Diego Simeone’s side, who’ll be without the likes of Julian Alvarez and Thiago Almada for the fixture at Anfield.
Arne Slot seems to have almost a full bill of health for the game tomorrow, with just one notable absentee from the Tuesday session in Kirkby.
Liverpool shared live training ground footage on their official YouTube channel, and it showed Alexander Isak among the players involved. The £125m signing was omitted from the weekend win over Burnley as the head coach felt that he wasn’t quite ready for matchday involvement at Turf Moor.
Alexis Mac Allister also partook in the session as he seemed to show no adverse effects from being on the wrong end of a reckless Lesley Ugochukwu challenge on Sunday, while Federico Chiesa also trained despite not being included in the Reds’ Champions League squad.
Rio Ngumoha, Trey Nyoni and Jayden Danns were involved as well, with the latter two eligible to be included on ‘List B’ rather than having to be named in the main squad.
The only absentee of note was Curtis Jones, who remains sidelined after suffering an injury in the win over Arsenal at the end of August.

Other than the ongoing absence of our number 17, it seems to be all positive news from the Liverpool training ground ahead of the clash against Atletico.
When the team news is announced 75 minutes before kick-off on Wednesday, all eyes will likely be on whether or not Isak starts or is on the bench. We suspect that Slot will stick with Hugo Ekitike in the starting XI, but it’s plausible that the Sweden international could be deployed if needed.
It’s also welcome to see Mac Allister involved and seemingly unaffected by Ugochukwu’s foul at Turf Moor, while the allowance for 12 substitutes to be named could enable youngsters like Nyoni and Danns to feature in the matchday squad.
The Liverpool head coach appears to be spoiled for choice when it comes to naming his line-up for tomorrow night, and that’s exactly the way he’d want it. As ever, we fully trust him to select the XI that he feels is best equipped to make it five successive wins for the Reds in all competitions!
