The young Allan was one of the main protagonists for Palmeiras in the 1-0 victory over Santos this Wednesday, in the second round of the Campeonato Paulista. It was his goal that secured the win for Verdão, their second consecutive victory in the State Championship and one that was highly celebrated by the player.

“Very important. Abel talked to us a lot about how the Paulista has changed this year, that it’s a short tournament. Now, we have to stay focused, recover and train well, so we can play every match at a high level,” he said in an interview with Cazé TV.

Allan was one of Palmeiras’ standouts last season, especially in the run to the Copa Libertadores final. A product of the club’s youth academy, the Cria da Academia commented on the interest from other clubs, such as Napoli from Italy, but emphasized his focus on the present.

“I’m very happy with all my work. But regarding negotiations, I leave that to my staff to handle. I try to stay focused here at Palmeiras, always be on the field and help out here,” Allan said.

Palmeiras the favorite?

With the win in Wednesday’s derby, Palmeiras now has six points and maintains a 100% record in the Paulistão, taking the lead in the standings. With only six more rounds to go, Allan was asked if Alviverde can be seen as one of the favorites for the title, even with the rotation system adopted by coach Abel Ferreira.

“Palmeiras has always been like this. Whoever is in the youth system is always willing to give their best, so that when they reach the professional level, they can perform well and help Palmeiras. That’s what Palmeiras is, it will keep rotating and will always be there, fighting for titles,” said the player.

Palmeiras, like the other teams from São Paulo, had little time to prepare for the start of the Paulista due to the calendar changes made by the CBF. The number 40, who started both games so far, said he is following the technical staff’s plan.

“We are following the plan that Abel gave us. He said the start would be complicated, we had little time to get back, but we are working well during the week to play high-intensity games,” Allan concluded.
