Carlo Ancelotti says Neymar’s inclusion in Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad became a global talking point. The Santos forward’s selection, he added, followed daily assessments by his staff.

“The Neymar topic was much discussed, not only in Brazil. When I was in Europe, there was also interest in whether he would be at the World Cup or not. It drew attention in many places,” he told Prime Video.

“We received a lot of advice, but our job was to watch, analyse and gather information every day. We had all the data needed to choose the players we felt were best prepared to fight for the world title.”

Ancelotti also addressed the squad’s physical condition in the build-up to the tournament.

“It is a very important period. Many players arrive after a whole season of matches.”

“We need to assess each situation, understand when to train and when to rest. The most important thing is to avoid injuries and ensure everyone is in the best possible condition for the first World Cup match.”
