Corinthians are close to agreeing a settlement with Argentina’s Talleres over the Rodrigo Garro transfer debt this year. Talleres president Andrés Fassi expects a resolution soon and has praised the approach under Corinthians chief Osmar Stabile.

“It is almost done. We hope everything can be signed soon and that a solution is found. Talleres and Corinthians are close to resolving a long-standing conflict. We have an excellent relationship with Corinthians, exploring every avenue to find a solution. Both clubs are looking to do their part to reach an agreement,” he told ge.globo.

The clubs have reopened talks on a FIFA ruling of 3.6 million dollars, about R$ 18.7 million, which could reach roughly R$ 32 million with charges. Corinthians still await their CAS appeal.

Dialogue had stalled amid a strained relationship between former Corinthians president Augusto Melo, who signed Garro in 2024, and the Talleres hierarchy. In early February, Stabile travelled to Argentina to meet Fassi in a bid to advance talks.

Stabile has formed a restructuring group at Parque São Jorge that cleared debts with Santos Laguna for Félix Torres, ending a FIFA transfer ban, and also moved the Matías Rojas negotiation. The same team is assisting discussions with Talleres.

At Talleres’ request, Corinthians recently sent three payment proposals for review. Club officials are optimistic about the renewed dialogue after initial resistance from the Argentine side linked to the earlier fallout with Melo.
