Corinthians and Argentina’s Talleres are moving towards an agreement in the coming days over a R$ 23.35 million debt linked to Rodrigo Garro’s transfer, a resolution that would avoid another transfer ban for the Brazilian club.

“We are close. We hope everything can be signed soon and that a solution is found. When, in football, there are leaders and clubs who keep their word and values, we must help one another,” said Andrés Fassi, speaking to Globo.com.

“Talleres and Corinthians are about to resolve a long-standing conflict. We have an excellent relationship with Corinthians, exploring every avenue to find a solution. Both clubs are looking to do their part to reach an agreement,” he added.

Corinthians president Osmar Stabile recently travelled to Argentina and visited Fassi to present a proposal for an upfront payment with a discount, with other options also discussed.

The dispute dates back to the start of the deal, with Talleres seeking US$ 612,000 for operational expenses and taxes, a charge Corinthians contested. The row delayed the Argentine midfielder’s registration in early 2024.

Corinthians initially paid US$ 4 million, but Talleres took the case to Fifa over US$ 3 million in remaining instalments. Fifa later ordered Corinthians to pay US$ 3,612,000, plus 18% annual interest, and a US$ 722,400 fine, figures also listed as R$ 19,463,262 and R$ 3,893,952.72.
