Anton Stach has posted an Instagram update on his ankle injury after Leeds United’s FA Cup win at West Ham, amid suggestions someone accused him of acting. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the post followed his early withdrawal on Sunday.
Stach was forced off in the 39th minute after a heavy challenge from Max Kilman. He had just taken a shot at the end of a counter-attack before rolling his ankle, briefly returned, then made way for Brenden Aaronson. Leeds later advanced on penalties, with Pascal Struijk converting the winner.
After the tie, Daniel Farke said Stach should have had a penalty and that the contact was on his ankle. He added it is probably a ligament issue, that the injury needs assessing, and that he hopes it is not too bad. Farke called Stach a key player who had been running the game.
On Instagram, Stach also shared Leeds’ celebratory post with the caption "What an Easter Sunday". A subsequent story showed his right ankle looking badly swollen. He added 'stop acting' in quotation marks, hinting someone had questioned the severity.
Further checks will take place once the swelling subsides this week. Stach is now a major doubt to face Manchester United next Monday.
Leeds’ problems grew in the second half when Joe Rodon rolled his ankle after an aerial challenge and was replaced by Sebastiaan Bornauw. Noah Okafor was also withdrawn late on with what Farke believes were cramps after his lengthy lay-off.
