Arena do Grêmio in Porto Alegre has received the semi-automatic offside system as Brazil’s rollout gathers pace, with four stadiums already ready for use.
The CBF said teams from the federation and Genius, which is installing the system, will carry out adjustments at Arena do Grêmio and at Arena MRV in Minas Gerais, with work planned for the next Brasileirão round.
Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre was tested last Sunday during Internacional v Mirassol. São Januário in Rio de Janeiro has the system installed but has not yet been tested.
The venues currently complete and cleared for use are Maracanã, Neo Química Arena, Couto Pereira and Arena da Baixada. Nationwide activation will begin only once every Série A ground has its installation finished. No start date has been confirmed.
The setup uses high-end mobile devices positioned around the stadium to capture high-definition images and create an animation of incidents for review. The ball and players are tracked at thousands of points, with data sent to VAR, which validates the decision under the Laws of the Game.
