Arne Slot defends Mohamed Salah amid Liverpool's "Collapse"
Liverpool boss Arne Slot's firmly defended Mohamed Salah insisting the Egyptian superstar remains central to his plans despite growing scrutiny over recent dip in form and some costly misses.
Pressure on Salah mounted after Liverpool's 2-1 defeat to Man United at Anfield. That result marked their 4 consecutive loss in all competitions and 3rd in the league, a shocking turn after winning their first 7 games.
The 32 year old endured another frustrating night missing clear cut chance that could have changed the game. It was rare off night against club he has historically tormented contributing 19 goal (13 goal, 6 assist) in previous league meetings.
Salah now scored just 2 goal in the opening 8 Premier League match , 1 of them by penalty.
Slot acknowledged the scrutiny but urged patience:
"It’s normal people focus on individuals after results like this , Salah missed big chance and so did others. We’re not used to this but it happens" he told Sky Sports.
The Dutch coach also highlighted the late impact of substitute Jeremie Frimpong suggesting the team's overall creativity needs to improve.
With defeats to Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, Chelsea and United, questions are being asked about the attack's efficiency and whether Salah who turns 33 next summer can still be the decisive factor.
Slot, however is confident the goals will return:
"If we keep playing like this, chances will come and Salah will take them"..
Liverpool must now regroup for Champions League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt before tricky league match against Brentford on 25 October.
