Arne Slot to speak with Mohamed Salah before Brighton decision | OneFootball

Liverpool manager Arne Slot declined to confirm whether Mohamed Salah will be involved against Brighton on Saturday, saying he would speak with the forward later on Friday morning.

The press conference was keenly awaited, with expectation around his call on Salah for the 16:00 kick-off at Anfield. According to L'Équipe, Slot would not be drawn on selection.

Salah was left out for Tuesday’s 1-0 win away to Inter, a decision that followed his incendiary interview after the 3-3 draw at Leeds on 6 December.

Slot said any decision would follow a private conversation with Salah, adding that he wanted to address matters with the player rather than in public.

The winger is then due to join Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Later in the briefing, Slot said he saw no reason to want Salah not to stay. That suggested he does not wish the forward to leave in the winter window, though that outcome is not excluded amid the current dispute between club and player.
