Bukayo Saka withdrew from Arsenal's starting line-up after suffering an injury in the warm-up before their match against Leeds United at Elland Road.

Mikel Merino also missed out in West Yorkshire because of an injury, and Mikel Arteta said before the game the 29-year-old had some foot pain. According to football.london, Merino is set to see a specialist in the next few days to decide on the next course of action.

The 24-year-old winger was seen heading into the tunnel with a physio moments before kick-off. Noni Madueke replaced him in the starting line-up, with Christian Norgaard named among the substitutes. With Martin Odegaard left on the bench, the captain's armband went to Gabriel Magalhães.

The Spain international missed training at the Sobha Realty Centre ahead of the victory over Kairat Almaty in the UEFA Champions League, a match for which he was suspended.

Arteta praised Saka on Friday morning, saying strong examples at the club help prospects such as Max Dowman. He stressed the importance of family in a player's development, added that communication with Saka's has been highly productive, and said trust has grown as they aim to build an outstanding career together.
