Aston Villa defender Noelle Maritz has signed a contract extension with the club.

The Villans announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.

The 30-year-old Swiss international has spent the last two-and-a-half seasons with Aston Villa after joining the club from Arsenal in January 2024. She has gone on to make 59 appearances for The Villans, helping the club to compete strongly in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Maritz has been a consistent performer throughout her time in the Midlands and Aston Villa have therefore moved to retain her services for an extended period.

After signing on again with Aston Villa, Maritz said “I’m really happy. It was an easy decision because I feel really comfortable here. I love the girls, there’s a great atmosphere with the coaching staff and the ambitions of the club made me want to stay.

“We’ve shown over the last couple of seasons that this team has a lot of quality and potential. With the players we’ve brought in and the direction we’re heading, it’s an exciting time to be part of Aston Villa and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.”

Further Aston Villa squad news will be announced by the club in due course.
