Sunderland face competition from Leeds United and Aston Villa in the chase for Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji.

SportsBoom claims Aston Villa are now the frontrunners for the 20-year-old, with talks expected to accelerate in the coming days.

TEAMtalk reports Leeds are well positioned and have long-term admiration for the former FC Copenhagen winger. It adds Bardghji is open to a loan, with Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford and Everton also interested. The report says Barcelona want to clear space after signing Anthony Gordon, ahead of possible moves for Marcus Rashford, Julian Alvarez and Bernardo Silva.

Former Lorient head coach Regis Le Bris is aiming to deepen his squad for a Europa League campaign and a congested schedule. After the final-day win at Chelsea, he said they do not want a repeat of last summer and that recruitment will shape the season.

He cautioned player adaptation is hard to predict, but believes the club are better aligned with improved tools to scan a wider market.
